Two weeks, two honors for the Central Christian College women’s soccer team.
Tiger goalie Goldie Bougher was named today as the Association of Independent Institution’s Soccer Athlete of the Week.
Bougher was 3-0 for the Tigers last week and didn’t allow a goal in any of the victories. Central is 9-3-1 on the season, having gone 7-0-1 in the last eight matches.
Bougher has started all 13 games, played 1,001 minutes, posted 7 shutouts, been scored on just 9 times and has notched 51 saves.
"It's nice to see Goldie be recognized," CCC coach Scott Fogarty said. "She's made some nice saves this season and has been a consistent performer for us in net, but overall she gives the team complete confidence in their goalkeeper. This has a positive ripple effect throughout the team and how we play. We gave up 6 goals in our opening 5 games, but have since only conceded 3 goals in the last 8 games. I think we're starting to see her find her confidence and take control of the back line. She's only going to get better."
CCC’s Isabel Sierra was the AII honoree last week.
