HESSTON — Hesston High’s volleyball team improved to 20-3 on Thursday with easy victories over St. Xavier and Southeast of Saline.
The Swathers blitzed St. Xavier (25-7, 25-2) and continued their dominance of the day over Southeast (25-17, 25-15).
Against St. Xavier, Kailey Jo Ince and Kailie Hamilton threw down 5 kills apiece. Alaina Dunlavy led in assists with 8 and Bailey McLain had a staggering 8 aces.
Against Southeast, Ince fired 13 kills and Dunlavy had 19 assists.
“We came out with more energy and focus tonight and played well,” Hesston coach Jason Peters said. “We have had some great battles with Southeast of Saline the past several years and the team was determined to come out and take control of the match, which they did in both sets from the beginning.”
The Swathers to go Council Grove on Saturday.
“This was a good match for us to give us momentum for a strong tournament this weekend,” Peters said. “We look forward to the challenge of playing some talented teams that we have never seen before.”
