NORTH NEWTON — McPherson College’s volleyball team did not fall into the trap.

Coming off an emotional loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday and taking on last-place Bethel on Saturday, it would have been easy for the Bulldogs to lose focus.

But they came out with their eyes on the prize, sweeping Bethel in straight sets (25-20, 25-19, 25-16).

Mac is now 7-5 in the KCAC as the match was the first of the second go-around through the conference. Overall the Bulldogs have now doubled their victory total from last year as they are 14-7.

“We were able to mix up the talent and get more confident,” Mac coach Jessica Cleveland said. “It's a good win when everyone gets to play."

Lexi Kite was immense with 12 kills and 12 digs. Jessica Sanders added 11 kills, while other leaders were Rhianna Smith (12 assists) and Kaitlin Heinis (10 assists).

Mac is home on Wednesday to take on Bethany, with match time 7 p.m. at the Sport Center.
