MOORE, Okla. — Central Christian College’s men’s soccer team finally got back to the .500 mark on Tuesday.
With a 4-0 road win over Randall University (formerly Hillsdale Baptist), the Tigers are now 6-6-1.
David Martinez-Salinas and Ricky Tellez scored during a 2-0 first half. Gabriel Flores made it 3-0 before Josh Dalton scored the final goal.
“Tough match tonight for the kids physically,” CCC coach Aaron Hoxie said. “Hard conditions and the Randall kids didn't hold back. The conditions changed how the game was going to be played dramatically and forced the game into a game of athleticism. That being said, the guys worked very hard, competed and executed the game plan perfectly. It was very important to get an early goal to force some doubt into the match. Having two goals inside of 7 minutes was critical in setting the tone for the rest of the game."
The Tigers will be home on Saturday to play Lincoln Christian. Match time is 2 p.m.
• CENTRAL WOMEN 3, RANDALL 0 — The Tigers are now 8-0-1 in their last nine games as they improved to 10-3-1.
“We came and accomplished what we set out to do," CCC coach Scott Fogarty said. “And that was win. We had a hard time with the condition of the field and the sustained winds of close to 20 mph, which made it hard for us to control the ball, but we came out and scored a quick goal and then added two more before halftime. We weren't able to add any in the second half, but we felt in control for much of the game."
Isabel Sierra scored two goals to lead CCC, with Nikki Neal scoring the other.
Central hosts Lincoln University at noon on Saturday.
