BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Perhaps playing three matches in four days caught up with McPherson College’s volleyball team on Saturday.
Playing a road match after hosting Southwestern on Friday night, the Bulldogs suffered a 15-25, 20-25, 22-25 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan, which swept the season series.
Mac had been red-hot going into the match, but it’s now 9-6 in the KCAC and 16-8 overall. It now trails Oklahoma Wesleyan by a half-game in the standings as the Eagles are 9-5.
Lexi Kite had 11 kills, seven digs and three blocks. Kaitlyn Heinis recorded 14 assists to lead the way. Emily Warner led in digs with nine.
The Bulldogs have a tough week coming up as they play two teams they lost to in the first round. They play Wednesday at Tabor and host Friends on Friday.
On Friday, Mac had defeated Southwestern 25-22, 25-21, 32-30.
“Winning 32-30 in the third set to finish off the sweep showed strong mental toughness for the Bulldogs," Mac coach Jessica Cleveland said. "They showed heart and fought with the long rallies.”
Kite had a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs. Leia Seiler added 10 kills. Heinis recorded 22 assists and Warner had 20 digs.
