HESSTON – Hesston High’s volleyball team reached and then passed the 30-victory plateau during the final triangular of the season on Tuesday.

The Swathers took down the Wichita Defenders (25-21, 25-12) and Lyons (25-21, 25-8) as they’ll take a 31-6 record into Saturday’s Class 3A sub-state at Beloit.

Against the Defenders, Kailey Jo Ince had 8 kills, Alaina Dunlavy notched 13 assists and Ince led in digs with 6, one more than Kennedy Teach.

Against Lyons, Ince threw down 10 kills, Dunlavy totaled 19 assists, and Teach and Ince shared the dig lead with 7 apiece.

This was Senior Night and the Swathers bid adieu to eight senior players and one manager.

Coach Jason Peters said the matches were a good tune-up for the weekend as he wanted the team to build momentum with solid, focused performances.

Also, the Hesston JV team finished with 30 wins as it defeated Lyons in its only match to close the year 30-4 as the pipeline continues to flow with talent.
