MEADE — Two is the magic number for the Inman cross country team.
For the third straight year, the Teutons will be sending two runners to the Class 2A State Meet.
Nicholas Martisko and Tobias Belknap will be representing the Teutons after strong performances on Saturday in the regional meet.
Martisko, just a freshman, was sixth in 18:05.81 and Belknap, who will be making a return trip to state, was 10th in 18:31.43.
“Nicholas was consistent throughout the race by running in the Top 6 for a majority of the race,” Inman coach Jay Parsons said. “On the other hand, Tobias had to chase down two runners to secure 10th place and a guaranteed trip to state. I am very happy for these two runners. Both runners were within 25 seconds of their season’s best times, which is quite an effort knowing the toughness of this course.”
Martisko and Belknap will be competing at another hilly course on Saturday as Wamego Country Club is the state site. They will run at 11:10 a.m.
Also for Inman, Nathan Beshore was 29th in 20:03.13, Kolby Blank was 60th in 23:02.42, Nathan Enns was 64th in 25:31.00 and Sean Smallcanyon was 66th in 26:53.47.
Canton-Galva had three runners — Cash Toews (24th in 19:55.53), Chase Klinkerman (21:28.44) and Dawson Minson (54th in 21:48.08).
Inman had two runners in the girls’ race — Aisjha Miles (15th in 23:16.17) and Tia Cole (38th in 26:58.97).
For Canton-Galva, Whitney Nightingale was 39th in 27:02.75.
