Canton-Galva’s volleyball season ended in the first round of the Class 2A Sub-State hosted by Alma-Wabaunsee on Saturday.

The Eagles lost to Valley Heights 25-19 in both sets.

Still, it was a highly successful season for the Eagles of coach Kaitlyn Bressie, whose team finished 17-14 overall and 7-2 in the Wheat State League for second place.

“Although we didn't end the year how we wanted to, we still had a successful season,” Bressie said. “We ended with a winning record and we finished regular-season league runner-up. I am proud of how our girls played in a new league against several schools we hadn't faced on a regular basis. We are losing some very important seniors. They have skill, experience and leadership and we are going to miss that greatly next year. I am excited about our underclassmen coming up. We had a few that had to step up and play a big role on varsity this year and they did a nice job.”

Alma-Wabaunsee won the tourney championship.
