LEAVENWORTH — It was a potential danger match for McPherson College’s volleyball team on Monday.
The Bulldogs made the long trip to Leavenworth to take on a sub-.500 Saint Mary team, which was thinking upset.
But thanks to Lexi Kite’s double-double, the Bulldogs not only defeated the Spires, they swept them.
Mac came away with 28-26, 25-22, 25-23 victories to improve to 11-7 in the KCAC and 18-9 overall.
Kite, making a late push for All-KCAC honors, had a tremendous 19 digs and 16 kills to spark the Bulldogs. Morgan Little led Mac in assists with 17, while Kaitlyn Heinis added 13. Emily Warner was all over the court, and time and again dove for balls, resulting in 30 digs.
The Bulldogs get to see the best of the best on Wednesday when they host KCAC leader Ottawa, which is undefeated in conference play. The action begins at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs also are home on Friday to take on Sterling.
