MOORE, Okla. — Bethany College’s men’s basketball team, minus two starters, was defeated 81-65 earlier this week in its season opener on the road against Randall University (formerly Hillsdale Baptist).

The Saints are the reigning NCCAA national champions. They built up a 41-29 halftime lead as the Swedes couldn’t find the mark for the first 20 minutes.

Jerricus Funderburke led the Swedes with 19 points, while newcomer Khalid Washington chipped in with 17.

The Swedes played without All-KCAC preseason pick Cody Harris and starting point guard Joey Habtemariam.

The Swedes shot just 21 of 65 from the field and were only 3 of 14 from 3-point.

Bethany is home tonight for its Hahn Gym debut against Baptist Bible College.
