LITTLE RIVER — The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Little River football team goes on the road tonight to play South Central for the first round of the 8-Man Division I playoffs.
The Redskins are 4-5 and a decided underdog to 8-1 South Central, but records often can be deceiving in 8-Man since the quality of competition varies.
Little River’s four wins were all routs — 44-12 over Bennington, 64-30 over Goessel, 54-8 over Canton-Galva and 52-6 over St. John.
Their first two losses were by close margins, but their other three were by deficits of 50, 46 and 22.
The Redskins, though, have some terrific skill players in quarterback Clay Zeller and backs Peyton Harvey and Hunter Thomas. They have put up some huge numbers at times this year.
South Central doesn’t play near as difficult of a schedule as Little River. Its only loss was a 66-22 setback to Hodgeman County. On Thursday, it escaped with a 48-42 win over Argonia-Attica.
Tonight’s winner gets either Ness City or St. Francis on Saturday.
