LINDSBORG — Tabor College’s football team scored on seven straight possessions on Saturday and its defense proved to be faultless in a 49-0 rout of Bethany College to spoil the Swedes’ Senior Day.
Little went right for Bethany, which dropped to 1-7 in the KCAC and 1-9 overall with a road game next week at McPherson College to complete the regular season.
For the most part Bethany has been able to hang with the KCAC’s elite this season, but not with the Bluejays. The Swedes sputtered to just 129 yards of total offense as the nation’s No. 13-ranked team remained tied with Kansas Wesleyan for the conference lead. Tabor closes with Bethel while Kansas Wesleyan has no bargain with Saint Mary.
Tabor had 568 yards of total offense, 365 of that on the ground as 14 players had a carry. Nate Ocran was the only bright spot for Bethany with 123 yards on 24 carries as he continues his pursuit of a 1,000-yard season. The rest of the Swede offense managed a total of 6 yards as quarterback Darius Handcox had minus-40 on his 6 carries, mostly sacks.
