Fearless like MHS by a touchdown

Fearless Forecaster was feeling pretty good about himself until the Big 12 football results started to roll in.

Through the AVCTL Division III, area and KCAC games, Fearless had only one miss — Bethel’s surprise of Friends in the KCAC.

But in the Big 12, Kansas State cost Fearless a win with a late-game collapse against Oklahoma State. He also didn’t expect TCU to defeat Baylor or for unpredictable Texas to win at Texas Tech.

That 2-3 finish gave our picker a 13-4 record. For the season, he is now 167-48 for 78 percent.

• AVCTL DIVISION III •

• McPherson 21, Maize South 14 — The Bullpups avenge an earlier loss to the Mavericks by winning their ninth in a row.

• Buhler 42, Mulvane 28 — If McPherson and Buhler both win, it’s a rematch and it will be played at McPherson Stadium.

• Last week — 4-0. Season — 40-8.

• McPHERSON AREA •

• Pratt 26, Smoky Valley 21 — Pratt's tremendous speed will end a great run by the Vikings.

• Hesston 35, Phillpsburg 34 – The Swathers have won seven straight and will hand P-burg its first loss of the season.

• Last week — 3-0. Season — 41-13

• KCAC •

• McPherson College 34, Bethany 31 — Until last week, FF was leaning toward Bethany because of its team speed advantage. After watching the Bulldogs give nationally ranked Sterling all it wanted, he changed his mind.

• Kansas Wesleyan 20, Saint Mary 7 — It will be a surprise if this ends up being a high-scoring game.

• Tabor 49, Bethel 14 — The Jays win the “Menno Bowl” as they are really rolling.

• Sterling 76, Southwestern 21 — The Warriors will win big and then hope for a call from the NAIA about the playoffs.

• Ottawa 36, Friends 29 — The two most difficult teams to figure out all year.

• Last week — 4-1. Season — 41-13.

• BIG 12 •

• Iowa State 45, Kansas 27 — This is the Jayhawks’ best chance to win. But it won’t happen.

• Oklahoma 52, Baylor 45 — The Sooners are closing in on the Big 12 title.

• Texas 37, West Virginia 35 — The Longhorns are confounding FF.

• Oklahoma State 62, Texas Tech 52 — Where’s the defense?

Kansas State and TCU are off this week.

• Last week — 2-3. Season — 45-14.
