Tabor, Sterling make playoffs

After a wild final Saturday in the KCAC, it was Tabor that emerged as the sole conference football champion and Sterling also earned an NAIA playoff berth.

It was all set up by Saint Mary’s upset of Kansas Wesleyan, which would have earned a national trip had it won. But Saint Mary rolled to a 38-24 victory and the Coyotes’ season came to an end. Had they won, they actually would have been considered the KCAC’s top finisher by virtue of their win over Tabor.

Both KCAC playoff teams have tall orders. Tabor goes on the road to Morningside of Iowa, while Sterling stays in the state to take on undefeated Baker.

Here are the final KCAC standings:

Tabor, 8-1 (8-2)

Kansas Wesleyan, 7-2 (9-2)

Sterling, 7-2 (8-2)

Saint Mary, 7-2 (8-3)
