ELYRIA — The Elyria Christian Junior High boys’ A-team opened its basketball season successfully on Monday with a 33-28 victory over Inman.
It was a slow start for the Eagles, down 18-11 at halftime. But they caught fire the rest of the way, outscoring Inman 11-5 in each of the final two quarters.
“When we were down by seven at half, I told the boys that they have always been a team that never gives up,” Elyria coach Shawn Stucky said. “They had to dig deep to take the lead and finish strong. I was proud of the way they worked together and controlled the fourth quarter to come out with the win."
Josef Hobson’s 17 points led the Eagles.
Inman won the B-game, 52-13. The scoring was balanced.
