Zeisler Selected as McPherson Elementary Teacher of the Year

Carmen Zeisler has been selected as the McPherson Elementary Teacher of the Year. Zeisler is a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary (RES). She’ll go on to represent USD 418 in the Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) statewide competition for the 2017 Teacher of the Year award.

Zeisler has been teaching in the McPherson school district for six years and has a total of 19 years of education experience, including teaching kindergarten at the American School of Brasilia in Brazil, and teaching ninth grade at the American Institute of Monterrey in Mexico. Before taking her position at RES, Zeisler taught third grade at Eisenhower.

Other teaching-related experience includes service in the Teacher Advisor Council at KSDE, Spirit of Discovery and Imagination, National Board, Presidential Award for Excellence Nominee, and Leader of Character Counts. Zeisler has also written over $8,000 in educational grants.
