Central Christian College’s basketball teams make their final appearance before Thanksgiving on Tuesday when Barclay College invades Alexander Arena for a doubleheader.
The women play at 5:30 p.m. and the men tip off at 7:30.
The Tiger women are 3-5 on the season despite playing with a seven-player roster. After starting the year 1-5, they have rebounded with wins over Grace University and Manhattan Christian College.
The Tigers have been riding the 1-2 punch of Piper Kalthoff and Abbie Banks. Kalthoff, who has had games of 30 and 28 points, leads the team with a 16.3 average while Banks is at 13.9. Every single CCC player averages at least 20 minutes a game, with Banks the ironwoman at 37.8.
Barclay’s women are 1-1 and also have played some exhibition games that didn’t count toward their record. The win came against Baptist Bible College, 91-39. Like Central, the Bears don’t have a large roster as they list just 10 players.
In the men’s game, the Tigers will attempt to win for the fourth straight time as they have overcome a 1-3 start with three straight wins.
The Tigers haven’t played since last week’s exhibition loss to Fort Hays State. Michael Gholston leads the Tigers at 16.3, while Kendric Waren is averaging 9.3 rebounds.
Barclay is 1-5, but one of the losses was a 2-pointer to Bethany College. The Bears also have lost to KCAC members Southwestern College and York College.
