ELISAH, Ill. — Three members of the McPherson College cross country team completed their outstanding seasons by competing Saturday in the NAIA Nationals at the North Farm Cross Country Course.
For the women, Lauren Wankum was 252nd out of 334 runners in the 5-kilometer race in a time of 19:54.96.
Aminat Olowora of Oklahoma City University was the winner with a championship-record time of 16:24.28, while the University of British Columbia won the team title for the fourth time in five years with 90 points by placing four racers in the Top 30.
KCAC schools Saint Mary (703 points) and Friends (848) finished 28th and 30th, respectively. Lorena Moreno of Saint Mary was the KCAC's top finisher in 32nd place.
For the men in the 8K, Jonathan Dominguez was 235th in a time of 26:59.50, while Michael Janzer was 289th in 28:00.90.
Bacone's Jackson Thomas outlasted defending national champion Geoffrey Kipchumba of William Carey (Miss.) to take first in 23:50.2. Southern Oregon University won its second national title with 135 points.
KCAC schools Saint Mary (392) and Kansas Wesleyan (812) finished 15th and 30th, respectively. The Spires had a pair of runners in the Top 25.
