MHS boys, girls ranked No. 3

Both McPherson High basketball teams will begin the season ranked No. 3 in Class 4A Division I, according to the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.

The MHS boys, second in the state last year, start off behind defending champion Miege and Basehor-Linwood.

Ottawa is No. 4 with Hays completing the Top 5. Rounding out the Top 10 are Wamego, Maize South, Eudora, Buhler and Abilene.

The MHS girls, who lost in the first round of state last year, are behind defending champion Miege and Paola. Labette County, which defeated the Bullpups in the first round last year, are No. 4 and Wellington wraps up the Top 5.

The second five is headed by Kansas City Piper, while Andover Central, Abilene, Circle and Rose Hill complete the Top 10.

Hesston’s boys start the year ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, while the Swather girls are No. 10.

Also ranked are the Moundridge girls, who are No. 3 in Class 2A behind Central Plains and Hoxie.
