Circles of McPherson County is the largest and most successful Circles site in the nation. And it’s about to grow some more.

It’s been active in McPherson for about seven years now, and they’re looking at expanding their success into the Lindsborg area with another class that will be starting at the beginning of the year, which is right around the corner.

To help spread the word, Circles will be hosting a chili feed this Tuesday, December 6 starting at 5:00 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Lindsborg for anyone wanting to learn more about the organization that helps local families break the cycle of poverty.

“The chili event is for anyone interested in the Circles model and our class structure,” explained Alana Murphy, Director of Circles of McPherson County. “So if you are interested in being a participant in Circles and attending the Getting Ahead class, or if you are a community member that wants to get involved in Circles, you’ll see what volunteer opportunities are available.”

Murphy further clarified that Tuesday’s chili event is free and childcare is provided. But a highlight of the evening will be the stories from current Allies and Circle Leaders currently involved.

“We’re going to have several of our Circles Leaders that are really successful in their stories and journeys out of poverty share about how Circles has been just critical in that process in helping empower them to move out of poverty,” said Murphy.

“And we’re just excited to be in Lindsborg again to reach Lindsborg and Marquette area families and learn more about Circles.”

The next class in Lindsborg will start up in January with a Circles Leaders 18-week course. The course is designed for anyone living in the USD 400 school district.

Circles of McPherson County is always looking for more Allies to come alongside Circle Leaders who are active in the program. For more information about becoming an Ally, a Circles Leader, and about Circles of McPherson County in general, visit their website at
