McPherson Gymnastics Club in action recently

The McPherson Gymnastics Club hosted its 14th annual Fall Fun Invitational recently at the YMCA.

 There were 116 competitors from six gyms — Dodge City, Garden City, Hutchinson, Inman, Salina and McPherson.

 This meet was for Levels 1 through Open Optional Division. The girls all participated in both team and individual competition.

The Level 3 team took first place, while the Level 2 team took home second-place honors.  There were a number of strong individual finishes at all levels and age groups.

Highlights as provided for publication:

• Level 2, Age 5-6: Averie Church placed 2nd in floor, 3rd on vault and beam, 4th on bars and 3rd in All-Around. 

• Level 2, Age 7: Audrey Weimer took home 1st on beam, 2nd in floor, 3rd on vault, 6th on bars and 4th in All-Around. Harper Rierson placed 4th on beam, 5th on bars, 6th in vault and floor and 6th in All-Around. 

• Level 2, Age 8: Lucy Bowman placed 2nd on beam, 3rd in floor, 4th on vault, 8th in bars and 4th in All-Around. 

•  Level 2, Age 9: Jayden McWilliams placed 4th on beam, 5th on vault and bars, 7th in floor and 6th in All-Around. 

•  Level 2, Age 10-12: Amelia Lawrenz placed 5th on beam, 6th in vault, bars and floor, and 6th in All-Around.

• Level 3, Age 8:  Ellie Paulsen took home top honors on bars, beam and floor, placed 3rd on vault and 1st in  All-Around.

•  Level 3, Age 9:  Makyna Munoz placed 1st on beam, 3rd in bars and floor, 4th in vault and 2nd in All-Around.  Savannah Souder placed 2nd on beam, 4th in bars and floor, 5th on vault and 3rd in All-Around. Dolly Rodriguez took home 2nd in floor and 7th in All-Around. Kiara Heizelman placed 5th in floor, 6th on vault and 7th in All-Around.

• Level 3, Age 11:  Aislyn Soukup took home top honors on beam, vault and floor, 3rd on bars, and 1st in All-Around. Payton Soden placed 9th in All-Around. 

•  Level 3, Age 12 & Up: Alex Henry took home 1st in floor, 3rd on beam and 4th in All-Around. Abbey Paulsen placed 2nd on beam, 4th in bars, 5th on vault and floor and 3rd in All-Around.  Sailor Peterson placed 3rd on vault, 4th on floor, 5th on beam and 7th in All-Around.   

•Level 5 Age All:  Andi Buschbom took home top honors in bars, beam and floor, was 2nd on vault and 1st in All Around. Haely Hageman took 1st on the vault and placed 2nd in bars, beam and floor, and 2nd in All-Around. 

• Level Gold, Age 10-13: Amber Smith placed 3rd on beam and floor, 4th in vault and bars and 4th in All-Around.

 • Level Gold, Age 12-14: Hannah McGowan took home top honors on vault, was 2nd on bars, beam and floor and 2nd in All-Around.  

• Level 7 Age All:  Ashlon Stanford took home top honors in bars and floor, was 2nd in vault and beam, and 1st in All-Around.  Larissa Queen took 1st on vault and beam, was 2nd on bars and floor, and placed 2nd in All-Around.

• Level 9 All Ages: Hannah Wuertz took home top honors vault, bars, beam and floor and was 1st in the All-Around. 

The team begins the regular AAU season in January and will compete until May. There are 24 girls on the competitive team ranging from Levels 3 through 9.  They will attend meets in Great Bend, Hays, Hutchinson, Pratt, Salina, Wamego and Wichita.
