Lots of holiday festivities going on this weekend in McPherson County. A full day is planned in Lindsborg for this Saturday, December 10, starting at 10:00 a.m. with the St. Lucia Festival, a favorite Swedish holiday tradition that’s celebrated every year with live holiday music in downtown Lindsborg. Swedish folk dancers in costume, live Scandinavian music and a procession of girls and boys in traditional attire will lead the crowd to the Bethany Lutheran Church for the formal crowning ceremony.
Later on that day, Lindsborg will host the "Freeze Your Brass Off" live concert starting at 4:00 in Swensson Park. Various brass groups will perform your favorite Christmas carols.
Then from 5:00 - 8:00 Saturday evening will be an old-fashioned Christmas at the Old Mill with live music, drama performances, and activities for the kids.
Also on Saturday is “Christmas in Inman,” where events begin at 4:00 and run until 8:00 pm, with even more activities planned for Sunday afternoon.
For 39 years, Inman has hosted a very popular live nativity scene every year that stretches for five blocks in the middle of town, complete with live animals and volunteers in costume. The live nativity will be open from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday at Lambert Park in Inman.
There’ll also be several opportunities in McPherson to see Santa this weekend. A Winter Wonderland is set up on East Seitz street in McPherson, just three blocks south of the fire station. This Friday and Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 there’ll be trains rides and warm refreshments for a freewill donation, and Santa will be there each evening from 7:00 to 8:00.
Santa will also make an appearance this Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 at Simply Good Overstocks on S. Main, and from 2:00-3:30 Saturday afternoon at The Village Geek in downtown McPherson.
