The perfect seasons continued for the McPherson eighth-grade girls basketball teams.
The A-team improved to 4-0 here Thursday with a 46-19 rout of Andover Central. MMS had a balanced offense, as Grace Pyle scored 13 points, Kassidy Beam 12 and Shelby Yowell 11.
“The girls came out ready to play and being able to play in front the whole school was really a big motivation for them,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “We hit shots early and that got us going and it was great to see how hard the team played. We talk a lot about being the first to the floor for loose balls and not being outhustled and the girls once again made sure they were the more aggressive team on the court. We shared the ball well and our offense is coming around.”
The MMS B-team continues to be an offensive and defensive juggernaut with a 55-3 walkover to also improve to 4-0. Lexi Kynaston’s 19 points were tops, while Belle Alexander (11) and Kenzee Godwin (10) also were in double figures.
“This group continues to play very good defense and get out on the break,” Crawford said. “Having the ability to keep teams from running sets is something we work on a lot and this group makes it very difficult for teams to get comfortable on offense. Our B-team has only given up 27 points in 4 games, which is amazing.”
