ANDOVER — McPherson’s eighth-grade A-boys are now in the win column.
The Bullpups took to the road on Thursday to outlast Andover Central 36-35 behind 16 points by Eli Pyle.
MMS is now 1-3.
“I was extremely happy for the boys to get their first ‘W,”’ MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “It was another extremely close game. Normally I will put some key points and goals up on the white board before the game, but all I put up on the board was play hard and have fun and let's make sure when the horn sounds at the end of the game that we have one more point than them at the end of the game.”
The B-team also had a nailbiter but came away with a 39-36 victory to improve to 4-0. Aaron Powell and Cael Bauer scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
“The B-team continues to do their thing,” Brown said. “Adam (Elliott), Aaron and Cael led the way with all of them close or in double figures. Cael, Logan (Ediger) and Zac (Butler) hit some timely 3-pointers when we needed it. Adam and Aaron supplied that energy with the two quarters they get in the B-game, which keeps us in the game or usually can get us a lead.”
MMS is at Derby North on Monday.
