Swede men stay tied for KCAC lead

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — Bethany College’s men are definitely road warriors.

The Swedes have now won two of their long road trips on their KCAC basketball schedule after an 84-81 verdict on Thursday over Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Bethany, which also has won at York, Neb., is now 5-1 in the KCAC and kept pace with co-leader Tabor, which outlasted McPherson College on Thursday.

Cody Harris finally had his much-anticipated breakout game for the Swedes with 24 points, while Khalid Washington added 18. Joey Habtemariam chipped in with 10.

The Swedes are now 8-5 overall.

• OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN WOMEN 84, BETHANY 63 — The Eagles broke out of their slump with an offensive explosion.

Wesleyan scored 49 points in the second half to break the game open.

Kimi Lindshield led Bethany with 14 points and also pulled down 8 rebounds.

The Swedes are now 1-5 in the KCAC and 1-9 overall.

Both Bethany teams are home on Saturday to take on Bethel.
