LINDSBORG — Alex Grennan had been in this position before.

The McPherson High heavyweight faced a must-pin situation Thursday night as the Bullpups trailed Smoky Valley 36-31 going into the final wrestling match of the evening.

Grennan, who came through a couple of times last year with pins that kept MHS alive in matches, secured the fall over the Vikings’ Nate Grosland to give the Bullpups the 37-36 win and a sweep of the night as they had toppled Chapman 51-27 earlier.

MHS had led the match 31-6, but Smoky Valley scored 30 uninterrupted points to stun the Bullpups.

MHS coach Doug Kretzer and the team were on the road today for Colby. More will be posted when available.

Smoky Valley routed Chapman 60-22 to finish 1-1 on the night. The Vikings head to Clay Center Saturday.
