HOA-CPL Challenge set for Friday, Saturday in McPherson

It’s not quite like the National Baseball Congress’ “Baseball Around Clock,” each summer in Wichita, but Central Christian College’s Alexander Arena and McPherson College’s Sport Center will be wall-to-wall basketball on Friday and especially Saturday.

The two local institutions are hosting the first-ever Midway Motors HOA-CPL Challenge as schools from those two leagues will match up.

Friday’s schedule starts at 3 p.m., but Saturday will be loaded with games beginning at 11:30 a.m., with the final games at 8 p.m.

Douglass High School Athletic Director Jason Menard is a McPherson native and is the inspiration behind the challenge. This has been two years in the making and the details have finally been worked out.

Area schools Inman and Moundridge are taking part, the Teutons playing on Friday and the Wildcats on Saturday, both at McPherson College.

It is hoped there will be a good turnout for the event as McPherson rolls out the red carpet for out-of-town guests.
