HUTCHINSON — Hutchinson’s eighth-grade girls were no match for McPherson on Thursday as the Bullpups rolled to a pair of easy basketball victories.

The A-team cruised 51-10 behind 16 points by Grace Pyle, 13 by Emma Malm and 12 by Lexi Kynaston.

MMS is now 6-0.

“In the A-game our pressure defense really caused problems and the girls did well running all the different things we do on defense,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “Our halfcourt offense is getting better, the ball is not getting stuck on one side as often as it use to.”

Like the A-team, the B-team is now 6-0 after a 44-4 rout. Kenzee Godwin’s 15 points paced the Bullpups.

“Our B-team was able to turn Hutch over and get out on the break,” Crawford said. “We got more shot attempts from our post, which was something we need to continue to do. Our offense works better when we play inside out and from side to side.

MMS returns to action Jan. 5 playing at Salina Lakewood.

MMS A (51) — Beam 3, Berlanga 3, Berg 4, Kynaston 12, Malm 13, Pyle 16.

MMS B (44) — Myers 2, Berlanga 3, Kynaston 4, Beam 4, Yowell 8, Berg 8, Godwin 15.
