McPherson’s seventh-grade A-boys improved to 5-1 here Thursday by outscoring Hutchinson, 57-45.
Seth Madron had one of the biggest games in Bullpup history as he scored 35 points, Aiden Hoover and Trey Buckbee were next with 7.
“Our team jumped right on Hutch and never looked back,” Bullpup coach Eric Burghart said. “They had some key players sitting in the first half due to disciplinary issues and so the second half was a little better measure of where they were at. I was very impressed with our ball control and attack to the rim. Hutch didn't have much of an answer for Seth as he did an excellent job of getting into the paint and pressuring the defense, but overall this was a complete team win.”
The B-team is now 1-5 after a 32-29 loss despite 8 points from Brayden Keane.
“Everyone competed to the max and I was so proud of our continued composure,” Burghart said. “Our defensive pressure was evident throughout the contest with (Javon) Mattox and (Braeden) Ediger leading the way on the boards. We really appreciated Ediger looking for his shot and that helped open things up for our attack. We had a couple chances at the end of the game and I didn't do a good enough job getting us into a successful set. Another competitive game out of this group and as we continue to grow as a team, we see our game level rise.”
