Twenty-six KCAC football players have been named to the 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list.
McPherson College junior linebacker Dalton Whitfield, from Cleveland, Ga., was the Bulldogs’ lone representative. Friends University led all KCAC schools with eight selections.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Whitfield, who has started for Mac since his freshman year and was second-team KCAC this season, ranked second on the team in tackles this season with 104, including 39 solo stops, 7.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He finished the season ranked 21st in the NAIA in tackles at 9.5 per game.
