LAWRENCE — The Kansas Jayhawks’ basketball fortunes took a big hit on Wednesday when it was announced that freshman center Udoka Azubuike would miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury.
Azubuike, the massive 7-0 and 260-pound center, will have surgery soon and should be ready to resume playing this summer. He injured the wrist during practice on Tuesday.
He had averaged 5 points and 4 rebounds, but provided a physical presence on the interior.
The Jayhawks are down to Landen Lucas, Carlton Bragg, Mitch Lightfoot and Dwight Coleby on the inside. Coleby is not 100 percent as he’s coming off knee surgery that has left him at about 80 percent, according to KU coach Bill Self.
