McPherson College’s women’s basketball team will return to action this week with afternoon games on Thursday and Friday in Salina as part of the Kansas Wesleyan Classic.
The Bulldogs take on Northern New Mexico College at 4 p.m. Thursday at Kansas Wesleyan’s Mabee Arena, then tangle with Dakota State University at 4 p.m. Friday.
The Christmas holiday couldn’t have come at a better time for the Bulldogs as they needed a break to regroup. After a rousing 7-2 start to the season, they dropped their final five games to even their record at .500. Two of the losses were to nationally ranked Tabor and Friends, games they had a lead in during the latter stages of the second half. Mac is 3-5 in KCAC play after a 3-1 start.
The Bulldogs also lost a non-conference game to Southwestern Christian University as their final pre-Christmas appearance.
Mac would appear to have an excellent chance of being highly competitive in both games. Northern New Mexico is 6-10 on the season, while Dakota State is 3-10. Dakota State, however, has won its last two games and played an extremely difficult schedule.
The games will not be aired on the radio.
