McPherson College’s men’s basketball team will make one final appearance in 2016 and it comes on the final day of the year.
The Bulldogs return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Baldwin City to take on a Baker University team whose record is a deceiving 5-6.
The game is a matinee as it has a 2 p.m. starting time.
The Wildcats have played four ranked teams, with their highlight being an 88-85 upset of No. 3 William Penn. They also own a victory over Ottawa (78-64) of the KCAC.
Among their other losses was a last-second 66-64 decision to No. 23 Benedictine, so this game will definitely be a good tune-up for the Bulldogs before they return to KCAC play a week from today at nationally ranked York College.
Baker has eight players who average between 10.6 points and 7.6 points per game. Its best player is Javeion Gray, who recently eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in his career.
Mac is 7-8 on the year, but coming off an impressive 73-55 victory over Haskell. The Bulldogs started the year 6-2, including a win over Hastings College, but then dropped six games in a row as they are 1-7 in KCAC play.
The Mac women, meanwhile, are in action this afternoon in Salina against Northern New Mexico College, then play Dakota State on Friday. Both games have a 4 p.m. start at Kansas Wesleyan’s Mabee Arena.
