McPherson High’s bowling team makes its season debut today as it goes to Wichita Collegiate for a 3:45 p.m. dual.
“The opener will be a challenge as we haven't practiced much as a team,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said on Tuesday as his bowlers were on Christmas break. “The kids worked on rolling the ball today and hopefully it will roll into tomorrow. We have had good luck at The Alley in Wichita in the past and I hope the good memories will be in the veterans’ minds.”
Halinski was using Tuesday’s practice to decide which six boys would bowl on varsity, while the girls are set since they have just six bowlers this year.
The MHS boys will be led by Clayton Ouellette and Jeff Reed, both of whom are capable of putting up big numbers. Leading the way for the girls will be Ashley LaSalle and Alexis Kieffer.
