TOWANDA — It was a quick-and-successful night Thursday for McPherson High’s wrestling team as the Bullpups improved their dual record to 10-2.

MHS swamped Circle 63-18 to stay unbeaten in AVCTL matches. The T-Birds were open at five weights, which gave the Bullpups 30 free points before the teams ever took the mat.

All but one of MHS’ wins were by falls, with one of the highlights coming at 113 where Landon Crews beat Circle’s Dakota Demo, one of the T-Birds’ top performers.

“We really wrestled well, very aggressive, very physical,” said MHS coach Doug Kretzer, whose team goes to Burlington on Saturday for an invitational.

Kretzer was somewhat disappointed the T-Birds were short on numbers, which cancelled the JV portion of the night. He notes, though, the team is going to be busy in the coming weeks.
