ELYRIA — Elyria Christian Junior High’s girls had a good day on Thursday in a pair of basketball games.

The A-team improved to 2-5 with a 38-11 blasting of Peabody. Kylee Penner, just a seventh-grader, led a balanced attack with 9 points.

“This was our most complete game of defense this season holding Peabody to only 5 points in the first three quarters,” Junior Eagle coach Roger O’Neal said. “Lindzie Archer had a great defensive game. And we moved the ball well on offense with strong scoring performances from our girls.”

Two quarters of a B-game were played with Elyria a 16-3 winner behind a balanced attack. The Eagles are now 4-3 in B-games.

There was no C-game for the 3-0 Eagles.

Elyria hosts Central Christian on Monday.

ECJH A (38) — Penner 9, Hawkinson 8, Clark 8, Starburg 6, Potter 2, Koehn 1, Aden 2, Archer 2.

ECJH B (16) — Swenson 2, Stone 2, Hawkinson 2, Potter 4, Koehn 4, Starburg 2.
