McPherson’s eighth-grade girls continue to defeat every team in their path.
The Bullpup teams improved their records to 8-0 here Monday with a sweep of Salina South.
The A-team used a three-prong attack to dispatch with South, 53-20. Grace Pyle’s 15 points were tops, augmented by Emma Malm’s 13 and Kassidy Beam’s 12.
“The A-team once again came out with a lot of energy and effort,” MMS coach Jay Crawford said. “Having the ability to pressure the ball and get teams out of running their offense is something this group does very well and once there is a turnover they do a great job getting out on the break filling lanes. First half we were up 31-6 and it was because of our defense being able to turn them over several times.”
Shelby Yowell’s 12 points and 10 by Kenzee Godwin led the B-team to its eighth straight win, 34-20.
“The B-team continues to play tough and get after it, very proud of them and how they continue to get better,” Crawford said. “They are understanding how hard they must play in order to make a play for their team. We talk a lot about effort and understanding that it comes from within, we are starting to see effort matters.”
