There’s a change at the top of the Class 4A Division I girls basketball rankings, announced on Monday by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.
Kansas City Piper has taken over the top spot from Bishop Miege after the Stags lost three recent games. Despite those setbacks, Miege is still ranked No. 2.
McPherson High’s girls, whose only loss is to Miege, are No. 3, while Baldwin and Rose Hill round out the Top 5.
The rest of the Top 10 includes Labette County, Andover Central, Paola, Circle and Abilene. The Bullpups own wins over Circle and Abilene.
The MHS boys, despite two wins last week, dropped a spot to No. 8. Miege, which lost last week to St. Thomas Aquinas, is still No. 1, while also ahead of the Bullpups are Ottawa, Basehor-Linwood, Kansas City Piper, Hays, Wamego and Eudora. Abilene and Buhler, victims of the Bullpups, round out the Top 10 at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.
The Hesston boys are No. 2 in Class 3A behind Norton, while the Swather girls are No. 7, with Hugoton leading the way.
Moundridge’s girls are No. 3 in Class 2A.
