Highly ranked teams meet here tonight

When McPherson High’s girls host Newton tonight, it will be a matchup of No. 3 vs. No. 1.

According to this week’s KBCA rankings released late Monday, Newton is the top team in Class 5A and MHS is No. 3 in Class 4A Division I, trailing Kansas City Piper and Miege.

Baldwin is No. 4, followed by Rose Hill at No. 5. The rest of the Top 10 includes Paola, Circle, Labette County, Andover Central and Independence.

The MHS boys, who lost on Friday to Andale (No. 4 in 4A Division II) are now No. 10. Miege is still on top, followed by Ottawa, Kansas City Piper, Wamego, Eudora, Basehor-Linwood, Hays, Abilene and Buhler.

Hesston’s boys are No. 2 in Class 3A behind Norton. The Hesston girls are now No. 10, with Hugoton leading the way.

Moundridge’s girls have dropped to No. 10 in Class 2A, with Central Plains the frontrunner.
