OTTAWA — January is not being kind to the Bethany College men.
The Swedes fell to 0-6 in 2017 and 0-5 in the KCAC with a 95-91 loss to Ottawa on Wednesday.
Bethany had entered the month one game back of conference leader Tabor, but has been on a downward spiral as it’s now 6-7 in the KCAC and in seventh place. The Swedes are 9-12 overall.
Keil Kelly had a breakout game for the Swedes with a career-high 24 points. Joey Habtemariam added 19 and Khalid Washington chipped in with 17.
Logan Bullinger fired in 32 points to lead the Braves.
The Swedes are back home on Saturday to take on Southwestern.
• Ottawa women 76, Bethany 52 — Bethany was down just 5 at the half, 34-29, but was outscored 23-8 in the third quarter.
The loss left the Swedes with a 3-10 record in the KCAC and 5-14 overall mark.
Ashton Burdick led Bethany with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Sydney Ahaneku chipped in with 10 points.
Jenna Kramer’s 12 points led a balanced Ottawa offense that featured five players in double figures.
Bethany host Southwestern on Saturday.
