Elyria Junior High girls go 3-0

ELYRIA — It was a tripleheader for the Elyria Christian Junior High girls on Thursday against Goessel and the result was a clean sweep for the Eagles.

The A-team won 19-14 behind by 8 points by Kylie Penner.

“Our girls played really hard on defense tonight,” said ECJS coach Roger O’Neal as his team is now 4-6. “We gave up a couple of easy layups in the first half with our press, but made adjustments and that didn't happen in the second half. Lindzie Archer had another good defensive night playing point in our press.:”

The B-team was a 14-11 winner with Merrick Robertson scoring 6 points.

“Merrick Robertson played another good game on defense and also led us in scoring with 5 points,” O’Neal said. “Kilynn Starburg and Olivia Peters also had a good night on defense.”

The B-team is 5-5.

The C-team had seven players score in an 18-6 triumph. Kortney Potter led the balanced scoring with 4. The Eagles are 6-0 as they haven’t played a full schedule.

Elyria A (19) — Archer 2, Clark 5, Hawkinson 2, Aden 2, Penner 8.

Elyria B (14) — Swenson 2, Koehn 2, Peters 2, Hawkinson 1, Robertson 6, Potter 1.

Elyria C (18) — Swenson 2, M. Koehn 2, A. Koehn 2, Aroum 2, Turner 2, Froese 2, Stone 2, Potter 4.
