In the first two games of the McPherson Invitational, defending Class 5A champion Mill Valley did not have a player reach double figures.

The Jaguars did Saturday. And how.

Cooper Kaifes not only hit for double digits, but he poured in a tournament-high 33 to lead the Jags to a 56-49 victory over Hutchinson in the seventh-place game.

After scoring 14 points in the first half to keep the Jags in the game — they trailed 29-21 — he fired in 19 in the second half. He closed the game out strong at the free throw line and finished the game making 10 of 11.

Hutch, which shot 11 of 22 in the first half but just 7 of 20 after the break, received 17 points from Davian Vigil and 15 from TreVaughn Jones.
