MHS teams ranked Nos. 3, 8

The Mid America Classic is going to be glittering with state-ranked basketball teams this week.

According to today’s Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, the McPherson High girls are ranked No. 3 in Class 4A Division I, trailing Kansas City Piper and Miege.

Baldwin is No. 4, while the rest of the Top 10 includes Rose Hill, Paola, Circle, Labette Coutny, Andover Central and Independence.

Manhattan and Olathe South, which will be in the MAC beginning Thursday, are ranked Nos. 2 and 3 in Class 6A.

McPherson High’s boys are ranked No. 8 this week, just ahead of sub-state opponents Hays and Buhler.

Miege is ranked No. 1, followed by Ottawa, Kansas City Piper, Eudora, Basehor-Linwood, Wamego and Abilene.

The Hesston boys, coming off their championship at Hillsboro, are ranked No. 1 in Class 3A. The Swather girls are no longer rated after losing in Saturday’s Hillsboro Invitational championship game to Clay Center, which is No. 1 in Class 4A Division II.

Moundridge’s girls are No. 10 in Class 2A.
