ANDOVER — Andover dealt McPherson’s seventh-grade boys only their second loss of the season on Monday, 56-47.
Seth Madron scored 22 points to pace MMS while Jayden Dukes chipped in with 9. The Bullpups are 9-2.
“We got beat in the paint, way too many easy buckets given up which falls back on me as I didn’t make a change soon enough,” MMS coach Eric Burghart said. “We had a bad stretch to end the second quarter and couldn’t ever make a big enough run to completely overcome it. There were some positives that came out of tonight as we definitely found out where we need to improve and that is valuable as we begin to prepare for the postseason.”
The B-team was defeated 40-17 as Brayden Conquest led MMS with 7 points. The Bullpups are 3-6 on the season.
“We got shellshocked,” Burghart said. “We certainly didn’t play our best basketball as we spent the first three quarters getting beat in the effort and mental portions of the game. I was very impressed with the hustle and never-say-die attitude we saw from Jaice Minier and Conquest. A couple solid days of practice should see these guys back at the level we’re expecting from them.”
MMS hosts Valley Center Thursday.
