GREAT BEND — Little River’s girls lost a 61-30 verdict to St. John on Monday in the first round of the Hilltop Classic.

The Redskins, now 5-6, are back in action today against Ness City, with game time set for 4:15.

“Credit to St. John, they played a heck of a game,” Little River coach Trey Look said. “We came out slow and not aggressive and it showed the first half. The second half we started to play with a little aggression and held our ground, but being down 25 at half was too much for us to overcome.”

Melanie Renken was immense in defeat by making 7 of 9 shots to score 15 points to lead Little River. Morgan Konen grabbed 7 rebounds and Emma McBride 6 to aid the cause.
