Olathe South didn’t look any different than the previous four Falcon teams that have participated in the Mid America Classic.

In other words, it was dominant.

The Falcons, who have never lost here as they were a perfect 12-0 in the Classic entering Thursday, were razor sharp in a 63-38 victory over Dodge City to advance to Friday’s 7:30 semifinal game against the McPherson-Andale winner.

South, the No. 3-ranked team in Class 6A, held Dodge City to just 4 of 27 from the field in the first half to compile a 32-14 lead and the Red Demons never made any serious run to put the pressure on.

It was flashy 5-3 point guard Makayla Gooch who directed a highly efficient Falcon offense. While she scored only 7 points, she had 6 assists and 5 steals.

Kaiti Butaud led Olathe South with 21 points, while Lindsey Bartels supplied 10. Dani Winslow didn't start, but pulled down 11 rebounds.

Tia Bradshaw led Dodge City with 18 points. The Red Demons play the McPherson-Andale loser at 4:30 on Friday.
