Seth Madron’s 21 points and 13 more by Jayden Dukes propelled McPherson’s seventh-grade boys to a 49-24 rout of Valley Center here Thursday as the Bullpups are now 10-2.
“I have been very proud of the effort our A-guys have put out in practice since our loss on Monday night,” MMS coach Eric Burghart said. “From the first possession tonight we took a lot of defensive frustration out on Valley Center and it was fun to be on the sideline watching us go. That's when this team can be at its best, when I let them off the leash and let them hunt, and hunt they did. Other than a few plays offensively, that we just need more work on, this group as a whole responded just like I had hoped in a big way tonight.”
The B-team is now 3-9 as it was outlasted, 41-33. Josh Brossard’s 8 points led MMS.
“Our loss tonight was from a lack of focus,” Burghart said. “When we are locked in and focused on our assignments then we can compete with any team we run up against. I thought Josh Brossard played, by far, his best game of the season. That's the kind of tenacity and heart we're looking for in our program. It was also fun to see so many guys in the scoring column, we just wish it could've gone along with a “W.”
