ELYRIA — Elyria Christian Junior High’s boys basketball team thrashed Solomon 42-24 Thursday in the first round of the Wheat State League Tournament.

“We started the game tonight scared because we were without Seth Redenbaugh, our 6-2 post player. It took most of the first half to get adjusted,” Eagles coach Shawn Stucky said. “The second half we started looking more like ourselves and were able to outscore Solomon 24-8 during the second half to secure the win. Josef Hobson, Zach Stucky, Ben Unruh and Bret Anderson all stepped up with a very balanced scoring effort and Grant Peters stepped in for us down low. I was proud of the way the guys pulled together to overcome our lack of height.”

Elyria had great balance as Hobson and Stucky scored 11 points apiece and Anderson chipped in with 10.

ECJH (42) — Stucky 11, Unruh 8, Anderson 10, Hobson 11, Dossett 2.
