McPherson High’s Clayton Ouellette had fire coming out of his finger tips on Thursday at Starlite Lanes.

Ouellette broke his MHS career high with a monster 758 series as the Bullpups outlasted Mulvane, 2,630-2,507 on Senior Day.

Ouellette fired a warning shot in his first game that it might be a great day with a 268, and came back with 255 and 235.

“He just gets it,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “He had a great day.”

Jeff Reed and Kc Becker were also outstanding with 638 and 632, respectively, as the Bullpups had to be at the top of their game since Mulvane was top-notch as well, led by a 694 by JD Titus.

“It’s all about spares,” Halinski said. “When we make our spares, we’re pretty good. We had a lot of good scores today.”

The youthful MHS girls were defeated 2,089-1,868.

“With the girls it’s also about spares,” Halinksi said. “We’re young, but we’re getting better.”

Maysan Groote led MHS with a 468, while Ashley LaSalle had a 456, one pin better than Brooke Miller.

The Bullpups compete in their final regular-season meet on Thursday as they head to Hutchinson to take on Buhler and Salina Central.
