DALLAS — It was a great start to the baseball season for McPherson College and new coach Bryan Moses on Friday as it prevailed in two games in the Dallas Christian Tournament.
The Tigers defeated the host school 9-2 in Game One as Dylan Klava picked up where he left off from last year with four hits and four RBIs, needing only a triple to complete the cycle.
His homer came in the fifth inning.
Newcomer Cory Royer was nails on the mound with six strikeouts in five innings.
Lane Fleming added two hits for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs then defeated Hannibal-LaGrange, 6-2. Another new pitcher, Soren Yarnall, was the winner, with Klava picking up the save. Yarnall fanned five in five innings.
Evan Willow led the offense with two hits.
“We played solid baseball today and laid our first brick of many going forward," Moses said. I was proud to see our players have so much energy while they executed in pressure situations. This was a great start to a very long season."
Mac is playing two more games today.
